A Study of Antidiuretic effect of Hydroehlerothiazide in the patient with Diabetes Insipidus

Abstract
|
|
|
insipidus, measured 24 hours urine volume, urine osmolality, urinary Na and free water clearance before and after administration of hydrochlorothiazide in patients with diabetes insipidus.
The results obtained were as following:
1. Urine volume was decreased by 61.5% (39.4? 80%) after administration of hydrochlorothiazide.
2. Urine osmolality was raised after administration of hydrochlorothiazide and this was more prominent when the patient was receiving the diet of low sodium content.
3. Urine specific gravity was slightly elevated titer administration of hydrochlorothiazide, but it a didn´t reach the isosthenuria
4. Free water clearance was decreased after administration of hydrochlorothiazide and this was more marked when the patient was receiving the diet of low sodium content.
All this results suggested that the antidiuretic effect of hydrochlorothiazide may be due to negative salt balance and diminished delivery of filtrate to the distal nephron.
